“ It was really good but so pricey, which is why I took a star off. I like that you get unlimited toppings- I got literally everything. However, I think its still pretty expensive and honestly didn't care for the meat but I think that's because all the meat was at the bottom vs. mixed in with all the delicious sauces and fresh veggies. I would get vegetarian next time and a plate vs. a pita even though it's slightly more because it seems you get way more value for your money that way. My pita was pretty packed, which was nice, but the sauces/toppings were not evenly distributed. Rather, it was kind of layered and I didn't like that and it was also falling apart. The space itself is small but fast and there are a couple of tables out front Overall, it was really good and fresh though and I may try again in the future but not anytime soon given the price! ”

“ The Upper West Side has no shortage of great Kosher restaurants, and Shawarma Shabazi's fast casual take on Israeli street food is phenomenal. Ordering delivery on a hazy Monday evening, we each got a platter (falafel for her, sabich for me). The platters were smartly packaged in two containers each, one for hot ingredients and one for cold, and packed to the brim with a choice of ingredients. There was a healthy portion of boiled eggs and surprisingly crisp and ungreasy eggplant in the hot container, with the cold container loaded up with the works (hummus + tomato and cucumber salad + pickles + onions + white cabbage + red cabbage slaw) and paired with tahini + amba (a sweet and sour mango sauce) + schug (a fiery cilantro sauce) At just under $15.00 per platter and with an addictive house made pita on the side, it's a fantastic local option and more than enough for 2 decent sized meals ”

“ I know this place just opened, but I extremely highly recommend. A few of my friends came to eat here and so I decided to give it a try. Walking in, I was surprised how there was literally no one there but a ton of workers which I guess was great for me as they were super attentive. I was a bit surprised by the prices were pretty high for something that was supposed to be take-out, but the minute they start making the shawarma, I knew why it was more expensive. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma platter and it was delicious! Perhaps one of the best shawarmas I've had in the city. First of all, they gave us a platter just for all the toppings, did I mention that they are unlimited, that they had. Sometimes the toppings don't have that much flavor, but each one was very complex and flavorful. The chopped salad was light and fresh which balanced out the finely chopped pickles which added a sour taste. The red cabbage slaw which was slightly savory and slightly sour balanced out the onions that had a slight charred on it. I was so delighted by all the different toppings, which is where I think the place definitely shines. The chicken itself was okay, tender but not crazier than normal. Overall, I had an amazing experience and especially with the portion sizes, the platter could easily feed a family of 4 with additional leftovers. I think it will take me at least 6-7 meals before eating it all but I did add some of my own rice to counteract the bounty of flavors. I will say that they don't automatically give you the rice or the fries so big reminder to ask them for that when you come. ”

“ Went with a friend for a burger to Talia's Steakhouse but we changed our mind because we wanted to try the new shawarma store next door which was opened about two weeks ago. We were very happy with our decision. I had an amazing shawarma in a pita with hummus, tahini, fried eggplant and fries. My friend who is a vegetarian, had sabich, a pita filled with fried eggplant, broiled egg, tomato, cucumber, parsley and a mango sauce called amba. My friend really enjoyed the sabich. The portion of the shawarma chicken, sabich and the toppings were very generous, and the taste was excellent. We highly recommend Shawarma Shabazi. ”
